Sniffles? Feeling a bug coming on? Too bad. Today’s words boys and girls = #maximumeffort & #gumption. #deadpool
Also, thanks Meredith Kessler for the inspiration & Jenn for the not so gentle kick in the ass.
project walk | first workout
Sam Schmidt recommended Project Walk to me when I had the opportunity to talk to him. Project Walk is Paralysis Recovery Center that basically has a more aggressive outlook on recovery, much similar to my own.
A few weeks ago when I got to work out with them for the first time, they delivered. The workout was intense and a lot of fun. They feel very similar to working with a personal trainer, except most of them have a degree in Physical Therapy, Kinesiology, or something similar.
For an ‘elite athlete’ like myself ;), it was awesome to get a coached workout with great people and the expensive specialized equipment necessary for paraplegics. Check out the car jack for people in the very beginnning, it basically jacks me up into a standing position while they throw different weighted balls at me.
One interesting note about my fantastic gut in this video: so apparently because I didn’t have feeling of my core muscles until recently, my ab wall has atrophied (just like my legs) and the weight of intestines literally just hang out. But the GREAT news is that I have feeling now and well on my way to getting lean and mean. No more blaming Filipino Dad’s rice with every damn meal.
You’ll see a ton more about the Walnut Creek facility coming from me for sure. Check them out at projectwalk.com.
